Propionaldehyde or Propanal or Methylacetaldehyde or Propionic aldehyde is the organic compound with the formula CH3CH2CHO. It is a colorless, flammable liquid with a fruity odor. Propionaldehyde is a common reagent used as a building block to many compounds. Propionaldehyde is used in the manufacture of plastics, in the synthesis of rubber chemicals, and as a disinfectant and preservative.
