Cyclopentanone or Adipic Ketone

Cyclopentanone or Adipic Ketone is not one type of silicone, but a whole mixture of them: it's a mix of specific chain length (4 to 7) cyclic structured silicone molecules. Cyclopentanone or Adipic Ketone is a silicone-based compound that is in the form of a clear, odorless liquid. It is used for giving a silky texture to the skin or hair, and also aids the spreadability of the product. Decamethylcyclopentasiloxane also known as D5 and D5, is an organosilicon compound with the formula [(CH3)2SiO]5. It is a colorless and odorless liquid that is slightly volatile. Decamethylcyclopentasiloxane is classified as a Cyclopentanone or Adipic Ketone.

DEFINITION
Cyclopentanone or Adipic Ketone is a fully methylated cyclic siloxane containing repeating units of [−(CH3)2SiO−]n, in which n is 4, 5, 6, or a mixture of them. It contains NLT 98.0% of (C2H6OSi)n, calculated as the sum of Cyclopentanone or Adipic Ketone 4, Cyclopentanone or Adipic Ketone 5, and Cyclopentanone or Adipic Ketone 6, and NLT 95.0% and NMT 105.0% of the labeled amount of any one or more of the individual Cyclopentanone or Adipic Ketone components.

Sample: 2.0 g Analysis: Transfer the Sample into an open, tared aluminum dish, and evaporate in a circulating air oven at 150° for 2 h. Allow to cool in a desiccator, and weigh. Acceptance criteria: NMT 3.0 mg, corresponding to NMT 0.15% (w/w).
