Acrylic acid or Propenoic acid is an organic compound with the formula CH2=CHCOOH. Glacial acrylic acid is a clear, colorless liquid with a characteristic acrid odor. It is miscible with water, alcohols and ethers. This colorless liquid has a characteristic acrid or tart smell. It is miscible with water, alcohols, ethers, and chloroform. Acrylic acid is used in the production of coatings, elastomers, adhesives, thickeners, superabsorbents, acrylic esters, and fiber sizing.
