Acrylamide or Acrylic amide is an organic compound with the chemical formula CH2=CHC(O)NH2. It is a white odorless solid, soluble in water and several organic solvents. The majority of acrylamide is used to manufacture various polymers, especially polyacrylamide, as a thickening agent, and in water treatment. It is also found in some foods. Acrylamide appears as white crystalline solid shipped either as a solid or in solution.
