Description: White to almost white crystalline powder .
Solubility: Hardly soluble in water. Practically insoluble in 96% ethanol and ether.
Appearance of solution (1 in 20): The solution should be clear and must not be strongly coloured than the colour comparison solution.
Alkaline or acid reacting substance: 10 ml of the filtrate solution should not consume more than 0.25 ml of 0.01M HCl solution (or) 10 ml of filtrate solution should not consume more than 0.5 ml of 0.01N NaOH solution.
Amino acid test on 1g sample: To be absent.
Specific Absorbance: Approximately 325 at 285 nm.
