L-Tryptophan or (S)-2-Amino-3-(3-indolyl)propionic acid or L-α-Amino-3-indolepropionic acid is an amino acid, a protein building block. People use L-tryptophan for severe PMS symptoms and for quitting smoking. It is also used for athletic performance, depression, insomnia, and many other conditions.
