Cyclohexylamine or Cyclohexanamine or Aminocyclohexane or Hexahydroaniline is a clear to yellowish liquid with fishy odor. It is miscible in water, and common organic solvents, like alcohol, esters, ketones, acetones, ethers, etc. It is very soluble in oil and ethanol. Cyclohexylamine is used as an intermediate in synthesis of other organic compounds. It is the precursor to sulfonamide-based reagents used as accelerators for vulcanization. It is a building block for pharmaceuticals and some sweeteners. As a corrosion inhibitor, it is used in the treatment of boiler water and prevents corrosion of metal surfaces that arise due to dissolved carbon dioxide.
